XLRI Jamshedpur achieved the highest rank (level-5) and was recognised as a “pioneering school” for the third year in succession in the fourth edition of the Positive Impact Rating (PIR) report, released in New York on Wednesday.

According to the PIR for business school release, the 2023 report entitled “Accelerating the societal impact of business school” was released during the keynote session in plenary at the 2023 United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) global forum. The societal impact levels of 69 B-schools from 25 countries were considered for the rating.

The Positive Impact Rating (PIR) is a rating conducted by students and for students. For the fourth time, students worldwide assessed their business schools on how they perceive their positive impact on the world. The positive impact of business schools goes beyond their contribution to business and the economy; it addresses the need for a positive societal impact.

Seven schools reached the highest level-5 as “pioneering schools”. The Indian B-schools bagging level-5 include Goa Institute of Management, IIM Bangalore, SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai, Woxsen University School of Business, Hyderabad, and XLRI.

“XLRI participated in the PIR for the fourth consecutive year. We are ranked level-5 along with seven other schools with an average score of 9.2,” said an XLRI spokesperson.

XLRI Jamshedpur director Father S. George S.J. said: “At XLRI, we always value our students’ efforts and contributions towards making a sustainable future for the greater good of humanity. Back in 2020, XLRI was ranked in Level 3: Progressing Schools demonstrating evidence of results across some impact dimensions. And from 2021-2023, we have consistently been ranked in Level 5. We stand strong with a unique and sustaining global leadership progress. Our students have a fine vision of making the planet a better place for all and are able to engage even in global action. And as we are going to celebrate XLRI’s 75 years of excellence, I am extremely happy to add this new feather of achievement,” said Father George.
