Peace meeting
• Lohardaga DC Binod Kumar on Monday held a meeting with senior district administration officials and representatives of different sections of society in Lohardaga to plan for peaceful Bakri Id and Karma celebrations. He asked them to ensure that cows were not sacrificed during Bakri Id as cow slaughter was banned in the state. The officials were also asked to be vigilant against social media posts and rumour mongers.
Beef cuffs
• One Mansoor Ansari, who was allagedly caught carrying 25kg beef in Pakur on Sunday evening, was forwarded to divisional jail under judicial custody on Monday.
Kids drown
• Two boys identified as Shabir Ansari (8) and Sajid Ansari (10) drowned while bathing in a pond in Radhedih village in Bengabad thana area in Giridih on Sunday.
Rape-kill probe
• Gumla SP Chandan Jha on Monday said investigations are on in the suspected rape and murder of a woman aged 25, whose body was found in a rivulet in the Jari thana area in Gumla on Sunday. Her cloths, a bottle of nail polish, a piece of ear ring and blood stains were found on the river bank. She was missing since Saturday.
Cops clueless
• Garhwa police are yet to make a breakthrough in the suspected murder of a BSNL employee, Dwarika Mahto (59). Mahto used to stay alone in an abandoned BSNL building in sadar thana area. His body was recovered on Sunday with his eyes plucked out and strangulation marks on his neck.

• Daltonganj-based Nilamber Pitamber University's vice chancellor S.N. Singh called on governor Droupadi Murmu at Raj Bhavan in Ranchi on Monday and apprised her of the latest state of affairs at his university.
