Residents of the capital purchase woollen clothes as the mercury dips
The frantic moves towards self-oriented objectives in human relationships were depicted in the play Evam Indrajeet staged at Milanee hall recently.
Artists of Nishaan, a city-based dramatic and cultural group, presented the play to celebrate its foundation day. Under the direction of dramatist Badal Sarkar, the artists depicted how people have become self-centred and think of their personal welfare alone.
Die-hard cine-goers of the steel city, especially English art-movie buffs, were in for a treat during the British Film festival organised at the Centre for Excellence.
On the third day of the film festival, the organisers screened Evita, based on Argentine character Eva Peron.
The 134-minute internationally acclaimed movie has the star Madonna enacting the character of the country girl, Eva Peron. The film depicted an incident in Argentina in 1952 when Eva Peron dies and the entire country mourns the death of the country girl, whose meteoric rise by defending the poor changed the nation’s history.
Traditional Indian marriage songs are lost amid the din of remixes and pop songs and to familiarise gen X with tradition, two city-based women compiled marriage songs in a book titled Sajani.
The book has 103 marriage songs from Bihar and Jharkhand. According to the authors, nowadays, the youths are so fascinated with remixes and pop music, that, at times, they even run away from the place where folk and traditional songs are sung.
Grandparents will have to wait for some more days before they can enjoy moments of peace and love with their grandchildren in the dada-dadi park at Morahbadi ground.
This thoughtful project of Ranchi Municipal Corporation started with much zeal and enthusiasm. It was announced that the park would be ready by November 15, to coincide with the state's third foundation day.
But a lot of work still remains to be done, though concrete benches, a boundary wall and a major part of the fountain have been constructed.
The park still needs finishing touches. As the authorities have missed the deadline, no one seems to be a hurry to finish the project.

Want to see Bollywood-style Romeos in action? If yes, make your next stop at Ranchi Women's College on Circular Road.
The space between the RWC main block and the science block is the place to watch for.
Young men - from mean and lean to the fat and ugly - have reserved their space there.
Most of them are motorcycle-borne - speeding and swerving their motorbikes, performing acrobatics, in their attempt to impress girls.
A number of such roadside Romeos return to the site even after a beating from the police, as on Tuesday when the police got into action to make the area Romeo-free. On Thursday, the Romeos were back in full force.
