Ranchi: The Raghubar Das government on Thursday approved 20 more film shoot applications following recommendations from Jharkhand Film Development Corporation (JFDC) a few weeks ago.
According to a communiqué from JFDC, which functions under the information and public relations department, the proposed films comprised six from Bollywood, four in Santhali, three each in Bengali and Bhojpuri, and the rest in other regional languages.
Speaking to this newspaper over phone, department official Sanjay Kumar Jha said they had started sending out formal consent to respective film-makers.
Jha named the Bollywood proposals as Ilaka Kishoreganj, Love Street, Life - the Shortcut, Samadhan, Gaon and Paanchalis, but didn't reveals details about the production companies. "All the films are from mainstream production houses," he said.
The official maintained that there were applications still awaiting clearance.
"On an average, we are getting 10-15 applications a month while queries from Bollywood pour in regularly - a clear indication of how Jharkhand is slowly coming to spotlight," Jha added.
Ever since the government introduced the Jharkhand Film Policy-2015 last year, four films shot in the state have been released. These are Begum Jaan, A Death in the Gunj, Ranchi Diaries and Ajab Singh ki Gazab Kahani.
