Jamshedpur, Oct. 1: Businessmen of the steel city have a reason to rejoice. They have got a traders’ organisation to exclusively cater to their needs.

Dissatisfied with the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), which has been functioning for the past six decades, a section of traders of Jamshedpur today floated a separate association called Tatanagar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI). The organisation will function on the similar lines as SCCI.

At a news meet, Sangam Agrawal, the general secretary of TCCI, said: “There is a large number of traders and businessmen in the city, but the SCCI was looking after the interest of only a few. As the majority of the traders were feeling neglected, they decided to set up a body, which will safeguard the interests of all businessmen of Jamshedpur.”

He added that if the SCCI had functioned properly, there would have been no need of the new body.

President of TCCI Rohit Singh said the organisation would not only cater to the businessmen of Jamshedpur, but also of Kolhan region.

“We will have offices at small townships like Chaibasa, Chakradharpur and Ghatshila and ensure that the traders and businessmen are provided security against criminals,” he said.

Singh further said the TCCI’s working style would be different. “Help will be just a call away for the members,” he added.

Elaborating on TCCI’s profile, the president said they would enrol 300 members within the next three months and eventually a new executive body would come into existence. He added that businessmen and professionals from all sections of society were welcome to join them.
