Ranchi, March 26: The Nagpuri films, which have so far remained mainly romantic in nature, have now something new on its platter to offer to the audience.
With the latest Nagpur Kar Bhoot is ready to hit the theatres on March 31, the film industry here has embarked upon a new trend leaving behind the old running-around-trees entertainment. The film, based on spirits and superstition, had a premiere screening at Beltron Bhavan in Kokar Industrial Area here today.
Having made it with a humble budget of Rs 3.5 lakh, the producers of the film expect that the local film industry would create a niche for itself with this first supernatural film. Besides the wonderful music of the film, its other important aspects are story, cinematography and special effects, which have been used for the first time.
?The special effects were essential for the film since it was a supernatural thriller,? the producer of the film, Yadhunath Mahto said.
?Multiplication of the same characters, their sudden appearance and disappearance, sparks coming out of the body and lightning effects are something, which cannot be filmed without the help of special effects. Although it was expensive, we had to use them according to the demand of the story,? he added.
The story of the film revolves around Gopal and his childhood friend Raju. Gopal returns to his village after finishing his studies in city and finds Raju behaving like an insane. He delves into the root of the matter and eventually, discovers that he was in love with a village girl Kanchan, who later fell prey to the conspiracy hatched by some village goons. Raju had been disturbed because his beloved?s spirit haunted him. Kanchan, however, avenges her estrangement with Raju and her death caused by the goons.
Taking advantage of these developments in the village, when some tantriks (black magicians) try to make a kill, well-educated Gopal comes to the rescue of the innocent villagers.
Besides two item numbers ? Dil dil dil kei ke debo yaar and Ghurighuri dekhela besh lagela, there are six more numbers, including one sad song, in the film. The audience was selective, including mediapersons, filmmakers, artistes and some local people, that enjoyed the flick to the fullest.
The star cast of the film includes Dinesh Deva, Rajesh Kushwaha, Kanchan Roy, Monika Ghosh, Raghunath Mahto, Birju Pradhan. The camera has been rolled by Raju Ranjan, who has worked in many other films like Sun Sajna. The screenplay has been written by Sanjit Snehal and Raj Benpher.
The film, that has been made under the banner of Aman Gaurav Productions, has received support from Adim Seva Sansthan, a voluntary organisation.
Most part of the film have been shot at Tagore Hill, Ranchi College, Imam Kothi (Kokar), while the songs have been picturised at different picturesque locales of Assam.
