Jamshedpur, Feb. 13: The city’s singing sensation has made it to the final three in Fame X and would be soon cheering the Indian cricket team.

Anandarupa Bagchi successfully sang past 1,000 candidates and would now compete with the two finalists, Rehan Khan and Nithi Nair, from Mumbai.

Appealing to the citizens of Jharkhand, her mother Anurupa Bagchi had said: “Judges have chosen the final three candidates and now it is up to all of you to support Anandrupa, who is the only candidate from the eastern zone.”

Pursuing her intermediate from the National College in Mumbai, Anandarupa has had her share of the limelight many times before.

Her tryst with musical shows began in 1998 when she won the Sa Re Ga Ma special episode. She has also been judged the runners-up in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa (Bangla) that airs on Alpha TV Bangla and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa in 2003.

The very experienced Anandarupa has participated in numerous programmes ranging from Doordarshan to MTV and had also tried her luck in Indian Idol in 2004.

The three finalists would be on a two-year contract with Sony Television that would ban them from participating in any other show or live performances at any event.

If Anandarupa makes it to the top she would surely get handsome returns.

The winner of Fame X would take home Rs 50 lakh while the first and second runners-up receive Rs 10 lakh and Rs 5 lakh, respectively.

Though an album is not a part of the contract, the three finalists will sing with a team that includes the musical trio Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy. The team would cheer the men in blue before they leave for the World Cup. “Shankar Mahadevan has appreciated Anandarupa’s voice and asked if she would sing for a film. My daughter was thrilled,” said Anurupa, who is the head of the music department at Jamshedpur Women’s College.

Trained in classical music Anandrupa draws inspiration from Asha Bhonsle and likes light music, said her mother.

Anurupa will campaign for votes in Ranchi and also in the leading publications of Calcutta. The voting lines will remain open from today to Friday, after which the grand finale will take place.
