Ranchi, Nov. 10: The festive mood gripped the premises of DAV Public School, Bariatu, as 11 DAV schools of Ranchi joined hands to celebrate the eighth inter-DAV cultural festival today.

The aim of the two-day festival is to inculcate the feeling of culture and heritage in students.

While the preliminary round was held here today, the grand finale will be held at DAV, Hehal, in the last week of November.

Swati and Saroj of DAV, Barkakana, said, ?It is festival time and we are making portraits of men and women in garba postures, thus showing their inner peace?.

Sushma and Pallavi of DAV, Khunti, were making a pattern of Lord Krishna with coloured suji. ?We are always fascinated with the mischievous activities of Lord Krishna, hence we have given shape to the God in the form of rangoli,? they said.

Decked up in black ghagra choli, eight students of DAV presented Haryanvi folk dance, Mere Kajre Ke Ha. The enthralling performance of the students kept the audience glued to their seats till the end of the programme.

Regional director of DAV, Ranchi zone, L.R. Saini, told The Telegraph that the programme would not only promote the talent of the students, but also inculcate in them the feeling of cultural heritage.

Another student, Tanya of DAV, Hehal, along with her friends, said their entire group rehearsed dandiya for 20 days. ?We took special interest in dandiya as it is one of the most popular folk dance of Gujarat,? she said.
