Musabani: Training centre |
Jamshedpur, May 11: Separate base camps and training centres of Border Security Force (BSF) and Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) will soon come up at Musabani in Ghatshila sub-division of East Singhbhum district.
Last week, the East Singhbhum district administration approved a petition of the state home department for transfer of necessary land to facilitate establishment of base camp-cum-training centres.
In accordance with the decision taken by the state government in this regard, the East Singhbhum deputy commissioner, R.K. Agrawal, had approved the petition to transfer 88 acres and 109 acres of government land to the home department for setting up of BSF and IRB centres, respectively.
The proposed bases of the BSF and IRB and training centre assume much significance with Ghatshila sub-division being a Naxalite-affected area. “Any activities by the paramilitary forces here will be a welcome step,” said a senior administrative officer while talking to The Telegraph.
According to sources, the district administration was also inclined to provide land to the police department because then it will be easier for them to carry out tactical combat against the Naxalites.
The officer on condition of anonymity revealed that Musabani, which was once a vibrant industrial town due to the activities of Indian Copper Company, had faded due to the waning of copper industries.
A huge number of vacant quarters are thus lying unutilised in the township.
Agrawal said that he wanted to see the proposed bases of the BSF and IRB set up in due course of time, without any hindrance.
“We have done our part of the job. Now lets see when the paramilitary bases-cum-training centre comes up,” said Agrawal.
As many as 3,000 paramilitary forces will be accommodated in each of the two bases. Moreover, the police and paramilitary forces who earlier had to take training from other states, will now be taking training at Musabani only.
