Jamshedpur, Feb. 14: Cine buffs of the steel city can finally look forward to the multiplex experience.
If all goes according to plan, Eylex Films Pvt Ltd will throw open a multiplex comprising three screens in Jamshedpur in June.
After successfully opening a similar facility in Ranchi, the group is set to launch the entertainment hub in the steel city, followed by another in Bokaro. The multiplex is coming up adjacent to Big Bazaar at Pardih on NH-33.
“We want to go national and we have started on our expansion plans with our projects in Jamshedpur and Bokaro. We felt that Jamshedpur lacked quality movie theatres and people would not mind spending to enjoy quality time at a state-of-the-art theatre,” said Anand Lohia, director of Eylex Films Pvt Ltd. The company also has plans to build a multiplex in Sambalpur, Orissa.
Eylex in Jamshedpur would boast three screens with a combined seating capacity of 1000. The four-storey building would also house gaming zones, ice-cream parlours and a food court. The screens would be on the top floor, occupying an area of 25,000 sqft. The food court and rest would be spread over 20,000 sqft.
Keeping in mind the different income groups in the city, Eylex has worked out ticket prices accordingly. The ultimate movie watching experience will cost between Rs 50 and Rs 150. A few rows will be reserved as premium class.
At present, Jamshedpur has four functional single screen movie theatres — Payal Talkies in Mango, Goushala Talkies in Jugsalai, Shyam Talkies in Parsudih and Star Talkies in Burmamines.
Goushala Talkies recently underwent a facelift, while Payal Talkies is all set for massive renovations as well.
For the Eylex project, the total budget is around Rs 5 crore. The multiplex hopes to provide competition to theatre chains like PVR and Inox, which are doing good business across the country.
“Watching movies is a different experience and in Jamshedpur, there are few opportunities to enjoy quality cinema. Work is progressing at a rapid pace and we expect to inaugurate it by June,” said Lohia.
