Ranchi, May 3: One of the most eligible bachelors of Jharkhand and lawmaker, Sudesh Mahto, is going to marry a lawyer.

Sources close to the state home minister said Mahto is excited about his arranged marriage to Neha Mehta, around 22 years of age, a budding lawyer pursuing a five-year integrated law course at P.Y. Patil College, Mumbai.

The marriage is scheduled to take place on June 18.

Recently, the 32-year-old minister had taken some of his friends to Mumbai to introduce them to his would-be wife, they added.

Mahto, whose birthday falls on June 21, will get married to Neha, a third-year law student, at the bride?s ancestral home in Tamar.

Neha is the only daughter of U.C. Mehta, the principal of Giridih College. The Mehtas also have a house in Samlong, Ranchi. She has a younger brother who is studying, sources said.

The minister?s family members said the search for a suitable bride for the minister had ended last year on June 22 when he saw Neha for the first time at Upper Bazaar in Ranchi. Mahto?s friend, Guna, had played an important role in finding the girl for him, the sources said.

Following a ?yes? from the minister, his family members had approached Neha?s Samlong house for formal discussions with her parents. The negotiations had been going on since then, they added.

?The parents of the groom and bride who recently met here in Ranchi have decided that the baurdekkha (Tilak) will take place on June 16 and the reception on June 20 at Silli. The minister is also expected to throw a party in the state capital later,? they said.

Mahto?s friends revealed that the minister had never had any girlfriend, although he had a ?soft corner? for Amisha Patel, the actress who played the lead role in the Bollywood blockbuster, Kaho Na Pyaar Hai.

?But we do not know if Mahto?s would-be wife knows about his crush on the actress,? they quipped.
