Several trains via Tatanagar including Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Superfast Express, Puri-Haridwar Utkal Express and Geetanjali Express ran behind schedule on Friday.
While trains coming from Odisha were delayed due to non-interlocking work for laying tracks and other repair jobs in Khurda Road division of East Coast Railway, several passenger trains between Tatanagar and Chakradharpur under Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railway (SER) ran late due to similar work at Gamharia.
The Delhi-bound Purushottam was five hours late and reached Tatanagar at 12.15pm. Haridwar-bound Utkal, which was scheduled to reach at 6am, arrived at 11.55am.
Tatanagar station manager O.P. Sharma said, "Several passengers of Purushottam Superfast and Utkal Express, who cancelled their tickets, were refunded. Normal services are expected to be restored from Saturday."
The SER rescheduled Geetanjali at 6.45pm from Howrah instead of 1.50pm owing to dearth of rakes.
An official at Garden Reach said the train would reach Tatanagar at 10pm instead of 5.25pm on Friday.
