Jamshedpur, Oct. 11: The state government may not have much to write home about economic reforms but that has not stopped the labour department from scripting the achievements of the Marandi regime on the labour front.
Come November 15 — the second anniversary of Jharkhand— the Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani would release the first edition of Jharkhand Shramik Samachar (JSS) when he visits Ranchi to take part in the state’s anniversary celebrations.
The 60-page quarterly journal was conceived and planned by the labour department about a month ago. About 2,000 copies would be printed and made available free of cost. A senior official of the department has left for New Delhi to seek suggestions from Union labour ministry officials, who had recently brought out a similar periodical.
About 500 copies would be printed in English and the rest would be in Hindi. Chief minister Babulal Marandi has given the green signal to the labour ministry to bring out the journal. Jharkhand is perhaps the only state in the country that has embarked on such a project. The labour ministry has asked for Rs 4 lakh from the government to bring out the journal.
Labour minister Raghubar Das told The Telegraph: “There are several notifications pertaining to the labour ministry that come out at regular intervals. It is not possible for the media to highlight these notifications. We would inform everyone about the notifications and tell them about what the government wants to do.” The journal would be made available to all industrial houses of the state, public sector undertakings, chambers of commerce and industry, business establishments, media houses and various departments of the government.
