JSA football league from June 1

Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Sporting Association (JSA) is gearing up to host the annual football league in the steel city from June 1.

Over 150 matches will be held during the tournament, which will stretch for over three months.

The JSA league starts with a Super Division match at Gopal Maidan in Bistupur on June 1. It will be followed by the ADivision at Armoury Ground on June 4 and Premier Division at JRD Tata Sports Complex on June 6.

As many as 44 teams - 10 each in Super and Premier divisions and 24 in A Division - will take part in the tournament.

"We are looking forward to efficiently organise the tournament. We are geared up for the event," said JSA secretary Avinash Kumar.

The JSA football sub-committee has convened a meeting of coaches and managers of participating clubs on May 27 from 10am at JRD Tata Sports Complex. Fitness test of officiating referees is also scheduled at the venue from 7am.

Besides, JRD Tata Sports Complex, Armoury Ground and Gopal Maidan, the JSA sub-committee has also earmarked venues like Tinplate Sports Complex near Golmuri and Sumant Mulgaokar Stadium in Telco to organise A Division and Premier Division, respectively.

Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Tata Football Academy, Aruna Samity, Thakkar Bappa Club, Jharkhand Sporting, Mohammaden Sportng Club and Andhra Sporting Club are some of the teams who will take part in the tournament.

One of the oldest sporting fixtures in the eastern zone, JSA league provides a platform to sports-persons to form state teams for different national championships.
