Jamshedpur, Dec. 16: After making different arrangements like physiotherapy, medical treatment and a host of other facilities for physically challenged people , it is now the turn of the district administration and Tata Steel to provide job opportunities to them.
The district administration and Tata Steel have now decided to initiate talks with various skill development centres and send the appropriate candidates according to the requirement, to hone their skills so that they can get jobs in different industries.
As of now, both the administration and Tata Steel are jointly conducting camps once a week for the special persons where their medical examinations are being done, certificates are being distributed and railway concessions being given.
Apart from conducting these things at the camp, equipment like tricycle, crutches, wheel chairs and other equipment are also being distributed to the physically challenged persons. One such camp concluded on Saturday at the Datkidih community centre.
Community Development and Social Welfare (Tata Steel) chief G.M. Sharan said: “We have already approached the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Confederation of Indian Industry for providing jobs to these people. We are seeking information on vacancies in these industries. Once we get that, we would talk to skill development centres and send the candidates to hone their skills after which they can join the industries.
He went on to add that three hearing impaired persons are already taking training in a central government institute. “Once they do that, we will initiate the process of getting them jobs. There are a lot of these people who are deserving and we do not want them to work as servants in factories and industries. We want them to be technical hands doing a responsible job,” Sharan said.
