Jamshedpur, Oct. 28: Around a dozen JMM leaders vying for tickets today filled up forms at a district-level party meeting held at Uliyan, Kadma.

JMM district president Rodhiya Soren said 11 forms for various constituencies were received on the first day.

“The party leaders have been directed to fill up the forms by Thursday, which will be taken up for discussion during JMM’s central committee meet on December 30 in Ranchi. The first list of candidates is expected to be declared on November 3,” added Soren.

JMM leader Nasar Firdausi, Babar Khan and Mohan Karmakar are vying for party tickets from Jamshedpur (West) Assembly constituency while Raju Giri, Pramod Lal and Jharna Pal today filled up forms for Jamshedpur (East).

JMM youth leader Ramesh Hansda and Amulyo Sardar today presented their candidature for Potka Assembly constituency. Former MLA and state’s revenue and land reform minister from Jugsalai Dulal Bhuiyan also filled up forms while Bidyut Baran Mahato and Ramdas Hansda filled up forms for Baharagora and Ghatshila Assembly constituencies, respectively.

Party leaders claimed that more candidatures are expected by tomorrow evening, when the submission of forms will end. Soren clarified that the final decision on candidates will be taken only after the party meeting at Ranchi.

Besides, the party leaders also discussed strategies for the forthcoming Assembly elections. According to leaders, stress is being laid on the formation of booth committees for the election.

“The party activists have been directed to start the process to form booths committees for six Assembly constituencies that fall in East Singhbhum district. Our booth committees will be ready by November 15,” added Soren.

Party leaders present in the meeting claimed that they were fully prepared to fight the elections on their own.

“The party members are full of enthusiasm and are ready to go into elections. Most of the members are happy that the JMM is going on its own in these polls and will show its strength. We also welcome the Election Commission’s decision to hold the first phase of polling on November 25, two days ahead of the earlier date announced by the election,” added Soren.
