Synoptic features suggest that a trough in middle and upper tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level roughly was persisting along Long.78°E to the north of Lat.30°N.

"The trough caused by a western disturbance will impact Jharkhand's weather on Sunday. It will result in isolated rainfall. Weather conditions will again become clear from Monday, " said a duty officer at Ranchi Met Centre.

Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed over Jharkhand during the past 24-hours. The highest maximum temperature of 29°C was recorded at Jamshedpur on Friday while the lowest minimum temperature of 7.4°C was recorded at Garhwa.

Met officials said there will not be much fluctuations in minimum temperature in next 48 hours. Statistics revealed that minimum temperature hovered between 10-12 degree Celsius in most places across the state on Friday.

Weathermen at IMD's Patna centre said the impact of the current western disturbance will not a strong one as it will result in light rains in some isolated pockets.

According to weathermen in Patna another western disturbance would cross through northern parts of the country around February 22 and this would help in prolonging the winter in Jharkhand and neighbouring Bihar.
