Enraged lawyers catch accused and hand him over to cops

A lawyer was allegedly manhandled by a Jharia based client during the counseling proceeding of the mediation centre of Dhanbad Family court this afternoon.

Enraged by the incident large number of lawyers reached at site and caught the accused person, Satish Sao, a resident of Shimlabahal area of Kenduadih police station of Dhanbad and handed him over to the police, which arrested him on the complaint of victim lawyer Mahendra Gope.

Notably, Satish Sao’s wife Kritika was living away from him for the last two months following a dispute with him and the their case was being heard in Dhanbad’s family court and presently the case was at mediation stage.

Both Satish Sao and Kritika have arrived today at the mediation centre for the counseling proceeding as part of a special drive where Satish was pressing upon her to accompany him at his house.

As Kirtika was not willing to go with her husband, her lawyer Mahendra Gope protested against Satish’s attempt to press upon Kritika to accompany him during the counselling process.

Enraged with Kritika’s lawyer, Mahendra Gope’s move to convince his wife, Satish attacked him during the proceedings after which a large number of lawyers arrived at the site and a team of police also reached in court and nabbed him.

Meanwhile, Dhanbad Bar Association took strong note of the incident and demanded increased security for the lawyers in court in view of increased incidents of attack against the lawyers.

Amrendra Kumar Sahay, President of Dhanbad Bar Association while talking to media expressed protest over the incident and said, “ The incident of attack that took place during the proceedings of counseling of the mediation center highlights the increased attack against the lawyers.”

“We condemn such acts of attack against the lawyers in court and demand increased security for the lawyers in the court from the police,” added Sahay.
