When a large section of the voters belong to the YouTube and Whatsapp generation, our MPs also ought to be tech-savvy.

And, of all of them, Hazaribagh MP Jayant Sinha is certainly one.

Addressing a gathering at Jado Babu Chowk in Hazaribagh town on Wednesday, Sinha asked the 150-strong audience to use all modern gadgets. Minutes before his tech advice, Jayant had inaugurated an e-gallery of Bank of India’s (BOI) Bazar branch.

The e-gallery has an ATM kiosk, a passbook update machine and a cash deposit machine. “In this fast-paced life, people don’t want to waste any time by standing in serpentine queues. Thus an e-gallery is the best option,” said the MP, who is now far removed from the air-conditioned world of global finance that he was a part of in the US.

Executive director of BOI Arun Shrivastava, who came down all the way from Mumbai to attend this function, said the bank always treated its customers as family. “We will soon add another feature to this 24x7 e-gallery by providing computer with Internet facility so that customer can avail Netbanking at any hour of the day,” said Shrivastava, adding that BOI was one of leading banks of India with 4,600 branches across the country and 440 only in Jharkhand.

The MP added that he had recently attended a meeting with BOI officials in Delhi where he had suggested opening of more branches in his constituency that comprises Hazaribagh and Ramgarh.

“It is not possible to dream a developed Hazaribagh without technology,” Jayant added.

Bank general manager Jayant Bhushan and manager of Hazaribagh circle Amit Roy, who were also present on the occasion, seconded him. Roy said Tatijharia, Keredari and Katkamsandi of Hazaribagh would have new branches of BOI within two or three months.

With this e-gallery, the state now has five of which two are in Hazaribagh. The first one of the state was opened in Saketpuri branch of BOI in Hazaribagh two months ago. Soon Koderma will also boost one.
