MGM Medical College Hospital authorities confirmed on Tuesday that the 40-year-old patient who was admitted in the isolation ward a couple of days ago was not affected by SARS. The hospital superintendent, D.N. Mukherjee, said the victim had symptoms similar to SARS disease. “Tests have shown that the victim is HIV positive,” Mukherjee said. Initially, the MGM authorities had put the patient in isolation ward, as he had symptoms similar to SARS when he came to the hospital for treatment. For the fourth consecutive year, Motilal Nehru Public School (MNPS) organised a blood donation camp on the school premises, on Tuesday. The event was jointly inaugurated by Sumathi Muthuraman and Sister Mackdella. Over 40 bottles of blood were collected. Apart from students and teachers, some of the parents also participated in the camp. All-India Medical Laboratory Technologists Association (AIMLTA) is organising a two-day seminar from May 2 here. Over 300 delegates from across the country are expected to take part in the seminar, which would be inaugurated by chief minister Arjun Munda. The main focus of the seminar would behow to improve medical lab technology. A tribal stabbed his wife to death at the residence of his in-laws in Girishdanga village under Musaboni police station on Monday night. Police said Rajesh Tudu repeatedly stabbed his wife, Janki, with a knife following a dispute. Later, the culprit tried to commit suicide by stabbing himself but was rescued by his relatives who took him to MGM Hospital in a critical condition. A female resident of Swarna Vihar in Sonari, LH Pati, has alleged that unidentified goons attacked her and snatched her goldchain on her return home from Jahir Colony in the same locality. According to the victim, a teacher in an Adityapur-based government school, the criminal had fled in an autorickshaw after commiting the crime. The police is yet to make arrests in this case.
