Jamshedpur: Traffic snarls before and after the first ISL home match on Friday evening on several important roads in the commercial hubs of Sakchi and Bistupur have increased the worries of the administration.

Commuters were caught in jams on Subernarekha Link Road, Sakchi highway, Straight Mile Road near Sakchi roundabout, General Office roundabout on Sakchi-Bistupur Main Road, Bistupur Main Road near Postal Park, Jusco roundabout on Sakchi Boulevard road (in Bistupur), Beldih Triangle (Bistupur) and Circuit House Roundabout (Sonari Main Road) between 6.30pm and 7.30pm (before the match) and after dispersal (between 10pm and 10.40 pm).

"My mother had an appointment with a nephrologist at Contractor's Area in Bistupur at 7pm. We left the house at 6pm but were caught in snarls near Sakchi and Bistupur roundabouts. By the time we reached the doctor, it was nearly 7.45pm. It generally takes 15 minutes to cover the distance by car. The administration should ensure that roads which don't lead to the match venue be kept free," said Soumitra Chakraborty (47), a resident of Kasidih.

Similar woes were aired by those returning from night shifts. "Our duty hours end at 10pm and we reach home in 15-20 minutes. On Friday, we were caught in snarls near Bistupur roundabout, General Office roundabout and also near Sakchi. I reached after 11pm," said Shiv Prasad (48), a Tata Steel worker and a resident of Sitaramdera.

SSP East Singhbhum Anoop T. Mathew assured to resolve the issues ahead of the next match scheduled on December 10. "We have got reports about snarls on several roads. We will hold sessions with traffic officers and sort out the issues before the next match," Mathew said.
