Jamshedpur, April 25: Thanks to the plan of businessmen of the Adityapur Industrial Area to expand their business, young entrepreneurs in the city, searching for information to set up new industries will now have reasons to be happy.
The knowledge centre of Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority (AIADA) will be connected online with the resource centres of Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur.
Sources in the knowledge centre said that the process of making it online was initiated a couple of months ago and it is likely to be completed soon.
“This will help both industrialists intending to expand their business and the younger lot planning to start their own units to avail of the best technical assistance from the resource centre of the premier institutes,” sources said.
Consultant for AIADA, C. Ramaswamy, who is also looking after the knowledge centre, maintained, that it is not possible for any information centre to have every database on industry and management under one roof as it requires huge investment. So the best way is to go online with those institutes which already have them.
He pointed out that after the knowledge centre is connected with IIM and IIT, any industrialist or anybody planning to set up their own units can have access to the database of these premier institutes. “These institutes have databases listing best industrial projects and management strategies from different institutions across the globe. These can be used by businessmen of the city,” said Ramaswamy, adding, “This was earlier otherwise impossible for most people, as it involves a huge investment to purchase a database or get a membership of these institutions.”
AIADA is making all these efforts to make the business community of Adityapur Industrial Area aware of the latest developments in the field of industries, be it production, quality control or office and stock management, so they can compete with their counterparts in different regions of the country, he added.
Ramaswamy said, the knowledge centre has already been connected online with some of the premier institutes of the city, including the Xavier Labour Relation Institute (XLRI), National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML) and Shavak Nanavati Technical Institute (SNTI). “In the past, there has been a close link between AIADA and IIT, Kharagpur on several projects. Once the work of connecting the resource centre is completed, we expect a further strengthening of the old ties, and there will be more opportunities for industrialists.”
