Jhanda chacha Abdul Sattar Choudhary is back to the streets of Upper Bazar in Ranchi with his bundle of Tricolours on Thursday ahead of the Independence Day.

For him, it's the time of the year, when he can earn some extra bucks. Choudhary, who has been selling flags for the last 41 years, said, "Like every year, I have stocked more than 10,000 pieces of Indian flags in my shop. I start stitching the them two months in advance."

Like Choudhary, there are many small entrepreneurs who do brisk business on the occasion.

One such businessman Madhu Mahto, who runs a welding shop, has made Tricolours in four sizes, priced between Rs 10 to 1,200 (seven-feet-long and five-feet-wide). He has also stocked hand bands, small badges in different shapes, stoles and Gandhi caps at his kiosk near Shaheed Chowk.

"I have put up my kiosk yesterday (Wednesday) evening. In four days, I hope to earn Rs 3,000-4,000," said Mahto.

With two days left for Independence Day, places like Hindpiri, Ratu Road, Kanke, Upper Bazar and Harmu in Ranchi are flooded with Tricolours at small kiosks in every nook and corner.
