Students, if you are stressed out writing your CBSE papers and feel jittery at the very thought of queuing up at schools to collect admission forms for Plus Two, here's some good news.
Students seeking admission to Class XI can now download application forms online. With CBSE exams being held - which started on March 2 and will end on March 28 - many CBSE-affiliated schools have decided to go for online admission to cut serpentine queues at counters on campus.
"We have already received more than 1,000 online applications," said Ram Singh, principal of DPS-Ranchi, which had announced online admission forms would be available from January this year till April 18. Students need to submit a demand draft (DD) for Rs 1,500 in favour of the school.
"We wanted to avoid the huge crowd at the school counters that hampers other official work. From this year students can simply log into our website www.dpsranchi.com and download the admission forms," said Singh.
DPS has an intake capacity of 650 students for both commerce and science streams.
"This year, we have received applications from students outside Jharkhand too, from Odisha, Bihar and Bengal," added Singh.
Students seeking admission in DPS-Ranchi will have to appear for an aptitude test of 150 marks on April 19.
"Selection will be on the basis of their performance in the board exam and aptitude test," he added.
DAV Public School, Hehal, has also started distributing online admission forms from February 15 on their website www.davhehal.org. Here, the last date of submitting forms is March 28.
"We have received over 1,200 online applications. The admission test will be held on April 2," said T.P Pati, principal of DAV, Hehal. Each admission form costs Rs 1,000.
A.K. Singh, principal of Jawahar Vidya Mandir (JVM) Shyamali, said they would upload all the admission-related information on their website www.jvmshyamali.com after March 30.
"Candidates will have to appear for a written test on April 27. Application forms will be available online till April 20 and a fee of Rs 1,500 needs to be submitted," said Singh.
Schools like Oxford Public school, Surendranath Centenary School and Kairali school will also start distributing online application forms from the last week of March.
Early admission forms also mark a change from norm. According to CBSE school principals, earlier, admission forms were distributed only after the board results came out.
But, students have welcomed the move.
Harsh Rawat, a student of DAV Public School, Hehal, who is a CBSE Class X examinee, said: "Getting admission to a reputable school in plua two is not a cakewalk. The system of online form submissions has made now the whole process much easier for students and their parents, especially if the schools happen to be located far off from home."
