Ranchi, July 31: The transport department will start the process of constituting “automated checkposts” in a week. Under the process, global tenders will be invited to build the highly-modern checkposts in the state.
Department secretary Vimal Kirti Singh today told reporters that nine checkposts will be constituted in different parts of the state to stop illegal transportation. The places include Chirkunda, Chouparan, Bahragora, Koderma, Manjha Toli, Murisemar, Dhuniyan, Chas More and Basanjore in Dhanbad, Hazaribagh, West Singhbhum, Gumla, Garhwa, Pakur, Bokaro and Simdega districts respectively.
“Three hundred pages of bid documents have been prepared for the purpose. Bidders are expected to install V-Sat, electronic weigh-bridge, eight lane road and other devises required for the constitution of an automatic check post. They have to be prepared to instal gadgets, which will record the number of the vehicle and its details when it is within a km of the checkpost.
“Bidders will be told to prepare the system in such a manner that other departments including sales tax, excise, home, mine and agriculture can also use the system. They have to prepare systems enabling different departments to check valid permits, load position, royalty payment and other legal documents,” he added.
The secretary said: “The department will also introduce smart cards to make the work easier. The card will be designed in such a manner that it can be used as a driving licence, registration certificate and a commercial motor vehicle permit. The card system will stop corrupt practices and make department work more transparent and effective.”
Singh said, “Jharkhand will be the second state after Gujarat, which will have an automated checkpost. With the help of the modern system, the state will be able to earn an additional revenue of Rs 1,000 crore.”
It will help improve the work culture.”
