Jamshedpur, Dec. 25: Investigation into the Rs 25 lakh loot from the manager of an outlet of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) by the police has revealed that the criminals involved in the incident were also involved in the dacoity in a branch of IDBI Bank in Ranchi last month.

Police sources said they are eyeing a major breakthrough in the petrol pump loot case through interrogation of Awdhesh Prasad Singh, who was arrested in a joint raid by Ranchi and city police on Friday. Singh is a resident of East Plant Bustee.

The police believe that the same gang was involved in the loot here and the bank dacoity case in Ranchi. The person arrested from Burmamines has the knowledge of both the cases, the police said.

Superintendent of police Sanjay Anand Lathkar said the person was arrested and handed over to Ranchi police for his involvement in the IDBI bank loot on November 24. ?We have requested the Ranchi police to find out if there is any connection between the petrol pump loot in the city last Tuesday and the IDBI Bank case. However, any thing concrete can be said only after the Ranchi police gives the details of interrogation,? he added.

The manager of an outlet of BPCL was on his way to deposit Rs 25 lakh in the bank when a group of criminals in motorcycles intercepted his car in Sakchi and looted the money.

The police had suspected that more persons were involved in the incident as another car had forced the manager?s vehicle to slow down.
