Ranchi, Dec. 23: Helix International School, which will come up on the outskirts of the city, aims at providing students with a novel learning experience from the next academic session.

The new institution, to be built on a sprawling 40-acre plot in Kuchhu near Irba, will be equipped with the latest teaching gadgets.

The co-educational day and boarding school is the brainchild of R.K. Priyadarshi, an alumnus of IIT, Delhi and IIM-Ahmedabad. Construction for the building will begin in June 17 next year.

The school will cater to the needs of Indian as well as foreign students whose parents want to inculcate Indian values in their children. The school would be a “gurukul of international prominence”, said Priyadarshi.

The school will have affiliation from International Baccalaureate Organisation and ‘O’ and ‘A’ Levels of Cambridge International Examination.

These affiliations will help a student to seek admission to prestigious institutions abroad for higher education. The school will also have CBSE’s affiliation till Std XII.

Classrooms from pre-Nursery to Std V will not have blackboards. The students will, instead, be taught with the help of custom–made touch-screens installed in classrooms.

Students from Std III to Std XII will be provided laptops linked through universal radio networking. Though parents will have to pay for laptops, the money will be adjusted from the fees, said Priyadarshi.

The school will also boast of a well-stocked library, which will also have a distance-learning studio to access reference material from the best universities of the world.

The school will also have a CD-ROM library and a reprographic centre in each building.

Those interested in sports will also not be disheartened. Facilities for horse riding, shooting, swimming, polo, squash and other sports will be provided.

A state of the art gymnasium will also be set up in the campus. Students will be coached by reputed trainers and try to bring out the best in a student. Extra-curricular activities will include training in Indian and Western music.

The school will have Separate hostels for boys and girls on the campus with one room for four students. Each floor will have a well-furnished common room equipped with cable TV and multi-channel piped music.

A married couple, who will double as house parents, will supervise each hostel, Priyadarshi said.

The school will also have a 24-bed infirmary with trained nurses residing in the school campus. A qualified doctor will conduct frequent check-ups.
