On World Environment Day, city-based NGO Neev (New Environment and Education Vision) has taken an ecofriendly business pledge.
Besides tree-plantation, Neev, which produces premium herbal soaps, will push large-scale use of organic and green products. For this, it has joined hands with The Green People of India (TGPI).
The TGPI, formed in May 2013, has a self-explanatory tagline: “promoting eco-enterprises and sustainable development in India.” An initiative to promote ‘green-conscious’ lifestyle in India, so far 28 eco-friendly, ethical, sustainable and fair-trade enterprises from 11 cities across the country have hopped on to its bandwagon.
The group will have its first promotional exhibition of green products in Bandra, Mumbai, from June 7 to 9.
Neev is the only green enterprise from Jharkhand to join the TGPI.
The NGO, which makes herbal soaps at their workshop in Hurlung, Telco, promises chemical-free products with no air, soil or water pollutants. Even wastewater from the production is used for watering plants.
“Neev is in perfect sync with the TGPI, a conglomerate of enterprises promoting only eco-friendly products. Together, we will promote use of organic products. Here in Jamshedpur, we as members of the group will take up activities to promote their use,” said Shikha Jain, Neev director.
“We are looking for more TGPI members. We’d love to have more green enterprises from Jharkhand. The campaign will strengthen when we have more people joining in,” Jain said. A nominal fee of Rs 300 and a pledge to promote 100 per cent environment-friendly products are the only two requirements, she added.
Other TGPI members include Haathi Chaap, Biotec Bags, Avani, Indigreen and Nature’s treasure. Bollywood actor Kalki Koechlin has also joined the cause.
