Ranchi, Oct. 17: A BJP MP today accused a senior national leader’s son, the Jharkhand government and a leading automobile company of entering into an “unholy league” in the distribution of buses to unemployed tribal youths in the state.
These buses were distributed by the state welfare department, as part of its bid to provide alternate employment to tribal youths. The parliamentarian, Salkhan Murmu, representing Orissa’s Mayurbhanj constituency while demanding a “high-level inquiry” into the matter, said that he smelt a “foul play in the entire episode”.
“This is a scam and needs to be investigated by an independent agency. The models of the buses are outdated and were supplied by a local automobile company. Though there are several industries near Jamshedpur and Ranchi, the orders were placed to a Lucknow-based firm owned by the son of the national leader,” Murmu alleged.
Talking to reporters this afternoon, he said the buses were meant for unemployed tribal youths and were distributed by the state welfare department. But, he alleged that the buses were of an outdated model and that the vehicles will not function for long. He demanded a CBI inquiry into the dealings.
