Jamshedpur, Oct. 27: About 150 golfers from Beldih and Golmuri Clubs will tee off the second intra-club tournament in the eastern zonal round of the McDowell’s Signature Club Golf Championship, which is slated to be held tomorrow.
Top corporate honchos, including Tata Steel managing director B. Muthuraman, will be teeing off this much-awaited one-day affair.
The proceedings will be played over 18 holes at both Beldih and Golmuri golf courses in the 0-8, 9-16 and 17-24 handicap categories, said Anand Tiwary, head, Jharkhand, United Breweries.
He added that the winners and runner-ups from each of the handicap categories would form the six-member composite club team.
After competing here, the city’s club outfit would play in the regional finals against other clubs from the eastern zone, Tiwary further informed.
These include Tollygunge Club, Bhubaneswar Golf Club, Shillong Golf Club, Digboi Golf Club, Fort William Golf Club and Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC), among others.
The second stage of the championship (the regional final) will be held at the RCGC on November 20, Tiwary said.
“Two regional finals have already concluded at Bangalore and Mumbai while the third final is slated at Golden Greens Golf Resort in Gurgaon on November 6,” he added.
Trophies and prizes will be handed over to individual winners at each stage of the championship, he said.
The event will bring together over 4000 golfers representing 30 top golf clubs from 20 cities across the country.
The championship will culminate in the grand finale scheduled to take place in Malaysia.
