Jamshedpur, Aug. 22: She may have had a dream run this year, but Jamshedpur-based athlete Sinimole Paulose has her feet firmly planted on the ground.

Although she has many medals to her credit, Paulose is not too pleased with her timings which are still not on a par with European standards.

Taking a break from her rigorous training schedule, Paulose, presently in Jamshedpur Originally from said: “The ultimate aim remains the Olympics. When I compare myself with European athletes, I don’t find myself very good, though I hold the 25th rank in 1500m metres in the world. I need to improve technically.”

Paulose who also bagged the gold in the 1500m section and silver medal in the 800m section in the recently-concluded Senior Asian Athletics Championships at Jordan, maintained that high altitude and windy conditions led to loss of breath and energy for which her timings suffered.

“We concentrated on bagging the medals rather than timings. But I am only concentrating on the Olympics now and I need to improve my timings for that,” said Paulose.

Apart from netting the bronze medal in the recently concluded Asian Games in Doha, she raced to a hattrick in a podium-finish at the three legs of the Asian Grand Prix athletic championships.

The level-headed girl did admit to “intense pressure” of expectations in the upcoming national games in Jharkhand. “When one wins medals, expectations increase,” she said.
