Ranchi, May 2: Jharkhand Governor M. Rama Jois today gave grants to several non-government organisations from his discretionary quota.

Jois gave Rs 1.32 lakh to six welfare organisations of the capital during a function organised at Raj Bhavan.

Bihar Eye Bank of the capital received the highest grant of Rs 56,000. The eye bank will use the money to carry out operations and eye transplants for those who cannot meet the expenses, said an employee of the bank.

Deepshikha got a grant of Rs 16,000 to procure tools required for psychological assessment of a person. Madarsa Hussainia was given Rs 16,000 to provide blankets and clothes to the children who study in the madarsa.

St Michael Blind School, Bahu Bazar, was given Rs 10,700 for blankets and clothes for the children studying in the school, while Cheshire Home has been given Rs 30,000 to equip itself with a computer.
