Jamshedpur, Aug. 31: The Jamshedpur Old Girls and Guys inter-school boys? football tournament, organised by Narbheram Hansraj English School (NHES), kicked off from four separate venues today.
DBMS Career Academy, Kerala Samajam Model School (KSMS), Jamshedpur Public School (JPS) and Motilal Nehru Public School (MNPS) posted wins on the first day of the event. Twenty-nine city schools will be participating in the tournament.
The tourney was inaugurated by Nakul D. Kamani at Gopal Maidan, while a vote of thanks was proposed by NHES principal Meeta Jakhanwal.
While DBMS obtained a comfortable 2-0 win over Tube Baridih School at the Armoury ground, KSMS overcame DAV (Patelnagar) 2-1, in a match held at the JRD Tata Sports Complex. JPS drubbed Kerala Public School 7-0 at the same venue, while, MNPS defeated ADL Sunshine School 1-0 at Gopal Maidan.
In the other matches, DBMS beat Valley View School 3-1, Dayanand Public School thrashed River View School 2-0, Vig English School won a walkover against Delhi Public School (Mango) and Balwin Farm Area School overcame Dayanand Public with a 2-1 margin at Gopal Maidan.
DAV (Bistupur) and Andhra Association English School also won their respective matches at the Tata Football Academy ground. The match between Beldih Churn and SDSM School, Rajendra Vidyalaya and Vig English School ended in draws.
