
Patriotism in every bite? For foodies, trying out the special Independence Day menu at hotels with family and friends is all about the freedom to celebrate India's birthday their favourite way.
Rising to the occasion, two top-bracket hotels in Ranchi have chalked out an festive fare, infused with patriotic fervour, er, flavours.
"For us, Independence Day is indeed special," said executive sous chef Ramchandra Oraon of Hotel Radisson Blu on Main Road near Kadru.
"We have a very inspiring menu for Waterfront, our hotel's 70-seater restaurant, in a buffet lunch from noon to 3.30pm," Oraon added.
Of the 25 dishes on offer will be tiranga pulao, Tricolour mousse, dal basanti, swadesi barfi and others, Oraon said. The buffet lunch will cost Rs 849 per head plus taxes.
Asit Kundu, F&B executive assistant manager, Capitol Residency near Station Road, said they had prepared an à la carte menu.
"It's a full package. We have specially designed our menu card of our Tricolour with a list of 10 delicacies. The card wishes guests Happy Independence Day," Kundu said.
"For example, in chicken chakori, you can see the three colours when you take a bite of the stuffing. We have a Tricolour fettuccine pasta, three pepper noodles, dal triveni, peas-carrot pulao, green and yellow Thai curry, among others. The cost ranges between Rs 150 and Rs 330 plus taxes."
Bariatu homemaker Jyoti Singh said she and her family would first watch the Morabadi parade and then eat out.
