Jamshedpur, Aug. 5: Passengers at the Tatanagar railway station are facing a harrowing time with train services between Howrah to Mumbai (via Tatanagar) being severely hampered due to floods in Maharashtra.

The huge delay in trains has resulted in large-scale cancellation of tickets. Sources in the office of the chief reservation supervisor (CSR), Tatanagar, said the number of cancellations of tickets for trains heading towards Mumbai have increased over the last couple of days due to late arrival and departure of trains.

The Mumbai-Howrah Geetanjali Express reached Tatanagar today around 10 hours behind its scheduled arrival time.

The Mumbai-Howrah Kurla Express arrived nine hours late.

Officials of the Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railways (SER) said the delay in arrival and departure of trains was due to diversion of trains from Nagpur.

A large portion of railway tracks in Mumbai have been submerged under water by heavy rains resulting in the delay of trains.

Officials said the central railways have come out with a notification of cancellation of several long-distance express and mail trains coming from and going to Mumbai.

The trains include Mumbai Mail which was cancelled today. The 8029 Mumbai-Howrah Kurla Express scheduled to arrive Tatanagar on August 6 have been cancelled. Mumbai Mail (Up) scheduled to arrive at Tatanagar on August 6 has also been cancelled.

The Howrah-Mumbai Geetanjali Express has cancelled for August 7. The Howrah to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) Gyaneshwari Express that was scheduled to arrive at Tatanagar at 2 am on August 6 is also cancelled.

South Eastern Railway today also notified the cancellation of Tata-Jammu Tawi Express (both Up and Down) for eight days from tomorrow due to floods at Ambala in Punjab.

The flood in Bihar has also taken a toll on the arrival and departure of trains at Tatanagar. Several trains plying between Tatanagar and Chhapra, Patna and Muzaffarpur are running several hours behind schedule.

Railway officials said all the trains passing through moving various destinations in Bihar are being diverted from Barauni.
