Ranchi, Nov. 30: After a humble beginning in 1961, Ranchi Veterinary College has evolved into one of the most renowned centres of animal husbandry in the country.

Dean Sant Kumar Singh attributed the college’s success to its focused approach towards finding solution to problems at the minutest level. He was speaking at the 50th foundation day celebrations of the college today.

“Besides students, we train around 1000 farmers annually,” Singh said, adding that recognition of postgraduation and research facilities at the college was a testimony of its academic excellence.

Various cultural and sports events marked the celebrations. Students as well as faculty members were seen actively participating in sports.

Vice chancellor of Birsa Agriculture University N.N. Singh, who was the chief guest, said despite constraints, the college had managed to become the main institution for postgraduate studies in the field of veterinary sciences.

“I am sure the college will make its contributions felt in the country’s progress by undertaking basic, applied and adaptive research in all disciplines relating to livestock and poultry production,” he said.
