Jamshedpur, Oct. 12: A dance troupe from Rajasthan is set to cast a spell on residents of the steel city.

The troupe will perform on October 14 at the Rajendra Vidyalaya Auditorium as part of the Agrasen Jayanti celebration of Marwari Yuva Manch (MYM).

The manch, which is the apex body of Marwari community youths, has chalked out major plans to celebrate the birth anniversary of their holy saint.

Addressing a press conference today, officials of the organisation said the manch will pay tribute to Maharaja Agrasen by organising a number of welfare activities and cultural events.

?There are many organisations of our community that are celebrating the occasion but we have different plans in store,? said Nand Kishore Agrawal, president of city unit of MYM, adding that the preparations are in full swing to make the event memorable.

He said in order to create awareness among youths about their rich heritage, a cultural night will be organised at Rajendra Vidyalaya Auditorium in Sakchi.

For this occasion, the dance troupe, Mandira and Group, have been called from Rajasthan to perform in the city.

The dance troupe, which will consist of 22 members, will present classical songs and dance of states like Rajasthan and Haryana.

Traditional dance forms, including Banjara, Kalbelia, Dandi, Dhamal and Paneria would be presented.

?Last month, Gravita Mishra of Rajasthan cast a spell in the city with her performance. Now we are expecting the same from the dance troupe and are looking forward to a memorable night,? said Agrawal, adding that the function will help create awareness among the youths about the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan.

He said various welfare activities will also be organisedduring the day-long celebration to be held on October 14.

The president said free fruits and relief material would be distributed among patients of Rajasthan Seva Sadan Hospital and MGM Hospital. Apart from this, relief material would be distributed among the needy in Gandhi Ashram and Antoday Ashram. The manch will also organise a function where prayers would be offered to the holy cows at Tatanagar Goushala in Jugsalai.
