Jamshedpur, Oct. 19: The steel city will soon get a taste of Persia in a first-of-its-kind exhibition at the Parsee Association Hall this weekend.

Brought to the steel city by Roshni and Persi Limboowalla of Mumbai, the event has been organised in association with members of the city?s Parsee community. The range on display includes elegant Parsee sarees, lacy Iranian upholstery and the delicious dhansaak.

About twenty members from Mumbai?s Parsee community are scheduled to visit the city for this three-day long exhibition, which will also include some general items apart from authentic Parsee goods. ?Our group was formed a decade ago by some like-minded Parsees in Mumbai and till date, we have held such exhibitions in almost all major Indian cities,? said Roshni Limboowalla, adding that this was the first time that such an exhibition had been held at the steel city.

One of the main attractions of the exhibition will be the exquisite range of garments, which feature original Parsee embroidery. The collection includes kurtis and Parsee Gharas, with every item designed keeping in mind Parsee traditions.

But the event is not only for the fashion conscious. For those interested in religion, the organisers have brought exclusive Zoroastrian items such as the sadra, navsari kasta and alkso. ?It is very difficult to get these items in a place like Jamshedpur, and we always have to depend on people coming in from Mumbai,? said Mickey Patel, one of the city-based organisers, ?This exhibition gives a chance to get some religious items.

The interests of the city?s food connoisseurs have not been left out. There will be a wide selection of Parsee dishes made available from Mumbai?s Parsee community.
