Jamshedpur, Oct. 20: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed city-based former international cricketer Randhir Singh as a talent resource development officer (TRDO).

Singh will represent Bihar in the East Zone panel of TRDO, which includes Russi Jeejeebhoy (Bengal), G. Mohanty (Orissa), A. Ganguly (Tripura) and Pritam Kumar (Assam). The task of TRDOs will be to spot talent in the zone.

According to sources in Bihar Cricket Association, Singh has been asked to submit his report directly to former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar, who is national chairman of the TRDO panel.

The BCCI has recently opened a new talent promotion wing for evaluating the potential of young players, who could be groomed into good cricketers, sources added. “It is an effort to spot talent, which can be nurtured to make top bracket cricketers,” said B.N. Singh, secretary, Bihar Cricket Association.

The job of the TRDO will involve watching domestic matches in each zone marked by the BCCI and collecting data on players with a potential. Singh has also provided a format, which he has to regularly fill up after watching the players in action.

Sources added that the data would be fed into a computer and processed for evaluating the potential of the players. According to the BCA secretary, Singh has been assigned matches involving Bihar only.

Singh, was recently in Bangalore to attend a session in which TRDOs from all over the country were present.
