Jamshedpur, April 19: There is one more feather in the hat of www.bhojpuria.com.

After winning the prestigious Manhattan Award for the best cultural website of India in 2006 and becoming the sole website to represent India in UN World Summit Awards in 2007, this year www.bhojpuria.com has emerged as a finalist at Stockholm Challenge — the biggest website award in Europe.

Launched and run by city-based software firm — Infogate Exporters Private Limited, it is the first Bhojpuri language portal in the world. “I don’t have words to express my feelings. We never thought we could make it so big. When we started this website, our aim was to spread awareness about Bhojpuri Language and the Bhojpuria culture,” said Sudhir Kumar, the director of www.bhojpuria.com .

Considered to be one of the most prestigious award ceremonies for the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in various fields like — culture, economic development, education, environment, health and public administration, www.bhojpuria.com is one of the only two Indian websites to be selected in the final.

The Bhojpuri film industry too seems delighted by this news as well as the portal owners. They have been flooded with congratulatory notes.

“For an institution, which works for its language and culture, this kind of achievement should not be taken as a surprise. I congratulate our own bhojpuria.com for this rare achievement,” said Bhojpuri superstar Manoj Tiwari.

There were over 2,000 nominations in the Stockholm Challenge this year and 400 entries made it through the first criteria control.
