Katkamsandi (Hazaribagh), Dec. 31: Armed members of CPI(Maoist), about 12 in number, have set fire to four dumpers of the Ranchi-Koderma railway link project here last night.
According to Karma Mahto, one of the drivers of the dumpers who was sleeping in a half-built house near the site, the rebels attacked the place around 1.30 am.
The extremists also asked for Vinay Agarwal, one of the contractors of the Rs 900-crore project to lay a 215-km rail track. Karma said the Naxalites poured petrol on the dumpers at the site, 25 km from the district headquarters, and set the vehicles ablaze. Assistant superintendent of police Upendra Kumar said: ?The attack was to mount pressure on contractors for levy.?
