Jamshedpur, March 8: The Jharkhand Archery Association (JAA) has geared up to promote the game in districts where it is not very popular.

This comes after the association created a centre in Dumka and got a good response.

Many archers from Dumka also took part in a couple of state-level championships and came out with flying colours.

The JAA officials do not want to let this opportunity go and want to establish centres in different districts like Bokaro, Lohardaga and other places like Khunti so that more talented archers can be spotted and groomed.

The matter is also likely to be taken up in the association’s annual general body meeting slated to take place on March 9.

JAA officials feel that once the centres are created, it would rouse the interest of a lot of people in the game and there can be an increase in the number of talented archers.

JAA secretary Sanjeeva Singh told The Telegraph: “We have got a tremendous response from the centre at Dumka. Now that there is a centre there, other kids are also getting inspired. This would greatly help in promoting the game,” said Singh.

The JAA has also decided to give modern bows to upcoming archers. Singh hoped that Dumka would be now followed by similar success stories.
