Ranchi, June 12: The craze for Mahendra Singh Dhoni continues to grow by leaps and bounds.
Be it gutkha or a music album, everything that is named after ?brand Dhoni? catches the fancy of his aficionados.
A Nagpuri song has now been dedicated to the star wicketkeeper-cum-batsman. The lines are also catchy.
?Dhoni Jharkhand kar hai mai ke lal, ki chaua chakka mare kamaal. Musharraf dekhi to hole behaal, ki hai jo sundar lamba lamba baal ?? This four-minute song from the recently released Pyar Kiya Hai, Pyar Karenge album has become a sort of anthem for the music lovers here.
If the shopkeepers selling compact discs are to be believed, the album has been a great success so far.
?It is all because of the song made after Dhoni. So many albums are released every week, of which most are romantic. But this song is quite different from this league. The first song has got Dhoni in it. In fact, the album is more popular by the name of Dhoni ka gaana wala,? said Sajjad Khan, owner of a music shop at Daily Market.
Both the audio and video versions were released on June 6. The song has popular actor Raman dancing along with his troupe. The scene is of a cricket practice session with three to four Dhoni lookalikes hitting the ball for sixes and stumping the batsmen.
Ranjeet Singh, producer of the album, said: ?I was never expecting such a huge response. In less than a week, we have recovered the entire cost of production ? Rs 1 lakh. It was just an experiment on our part and the bet paid off.?
Ignes, the lyricist, pointed out that making a song of Dhoni was a difficult task.
Singh added that it also took time to make the video.
?With a song like this, we also needed the exact story to play on. We also roped in Raman as he is very popular here and has given many hits. Searching for boys with long hairlocks who could shake their legs was also a bit difficult.?
?Dhoni sells. He is the first star of the state. People are mad about him,? said a retailer.
Meanwhile, the CD, priced at Rs 20, is ruling the charts.
