Jamshedpur, March 25: Even a year ago they were regular students at the city-based International Institute of Fashion Technology (IIFT). But now city youths Anjana Seth and Shashi Kant are slowly making their mark in the world of fashion designing.
They are now settled in Delhi. Anjana and Shashi have gone on to become in-house designers for Aries, a leading fashion export house in London.
Currently working on a free lance basis, the duo supply their designs under their newly launched label A&S.
“We have been assisting fashion designers for quite sometime now, but when we read about this offer from the London export house, we decided to give it a shot and within a very short time they responded back. It has been over four months now that we are supplying our designs and also readymade garments to them,” said Anjana.
The duo exports over 30-odd readymade garments each month to this export house in London.
“Each week we send at least six to seven ready- made garments which include jackets, tunics and other western outfits and all this is made at our production unit in Delhi,” said Shashi who has earlier worked with designers like Renu Tandon and Varun Bahal. The latter’s collection at the Milan Fashion Week last year had at least five designs made by Shashi.
Currently they are working for several other leading Indian export houses and also with Fashion Designing Council of India certified designers such as Anupama Dayal, Karuna Khaitan and Sonia Jetly.
But the icing on the cake has surely been a plump offer from two new designers Ankur and Priya- nka Mody. Both Anjana and Shashi had their des- igns displayed at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week which concluded in Delhi recently.
They worked along with the Modys as part of their fashion brand AM:PM.
“We do not assist them. In fact we supply our designs and swatches (fabrics) to them and they take it for their own garments,” said Shashi.
Apart from designing, the duo also specialises in making new fabric creation and textile designing.
“May be it is too early to call our creations a brand, but we have surely made a beginning. We may come up with our own brand of clothes in the near future. Offers are pouring in and there are several designers who are approaching us,” added Anjana.
