Jamshedpur, Dec. 21: Career options for today’s graduates are many and Karim City College is bringing the option of joining the army closer to steel city students.

Starting from the next academic session, NCC (National Cadet Corps) cadets of Karim City College will get special coaching for National Defence Academy (NDA) and Combined Defence Services (CDS). The decision has been taken to help students consider defence as a flourishing career option. The NCC in the city is under the 37th Jharkhand Battalion.

“NCC has been functioning in the college for long, but we have seen that the craze for traditional careers has increased despite innumerable choices. On the other hand, defence is a field which is one of the least known in the city and we have taken up the cudgels to make it popular,” said Fakruddin Ahmed, NCC officer of Karim City College, said.

Principal Mohammad Zakaria has already given a green signal for the coaching classes for NDA and CDS, but the details of the plans like timings and resource are yet to be chalked out. The coaching will be provided to the new batch, which will take admission in the college from next year so that they can prepare themselves for the national-level examinations.

Currently, there are 160 NCC cadets in the college. NCC is a two-year programme in colleges where students undergo various activities to achieve different levels of competence.

NCC cadets of the college who have won laurels for the state also inspired the management to start and guide the students in this area.

NCC cadet Dharamjeet Kumar recently returned from a youth exchange programme in Singapore while cadet Mehnaz Zarin attended a programme in Maldives.
