Jamshedpur, April 20: Students of DBMS school today stopped by Malgudi junction to meet Swami and Friends.

The students of DBMS chain of schools took to the stage to act out the timeless characters and stories of R.K. Narayan’s Malgudi Days at their schools.

Malgudi Days is a masterpiece and we wanted to acquaint the children with the characters and some of the short stories. Most of the students have either read the stories or have seen it on television but have never acted out the characters. The stories are very close to our heart. It was the chairperson of the DBMS English School, Bhanumathi Neelakanthan, who gave us the idea to stage them,” said Rajani Shekhar, the principal of DBMS English School.

While the students of DBMS English School put up Pocketmar, DBMS Hindi School presented Leela’s Friend. DBMS Liliput School performed the masterpiece Swami and Friends. The other two schools, Binapani School and DBMS Kadma High School, will perform tomorrow.

Students were thrilled to act Narayan’s simple yet entertaining characters.

“I have never acted in any play but I enjoyed playing Raju, the protagonist of Pocketmar. I haven’t seen the series, Malgudi Days, yet but I loved being a part of the play,” said Shashwat, a student of DBMS English School.
