Jamshedpur, April 22: Anand Kumar and Arnab Ghosh, students of DAV Public School, Bistupur, today won the city final round of the Limca Book of Records Quiz-2010 at Carmel Junior College. The students will compete with winners from 99 other schools in the semi-finals next month.
With the DAV students scoring 80 points, Rajendra Vidyalaya students emerged as runners-up with 60 points after a tough battle.
As many as 366 students from 66 schools competed in the city final facing questions on subjects ranging from science, geography and mathematics to general knowledge. Only six schools — Sacred Heart Convent School, Loyola School, DAV Public School, Bistupur; Motilal Nehru Public School, Kerala Samajam Model School and Rajendra Vidyalaya — made it to the city finals.
“We have enjoyed each and every round. We also got to learn new things. There should be more quiz contests like this,” said Namita Agarwal, a student of Motilal Nehru.
The preliminary rounds comprised a written test for each team of two students. There were six rounds in the city final. Quizmaster Derek O’ Brien, and writer of Know & Grow with Derek series will host the national final next month. The multi-city initiative has been launched in partnership with Know & Grow with Derek and involves participation of students from Class VIII to XII.
Eighty teams would be participating in the semi-finals.
