It was déjà vu for Khagual’s DAV Public School as their 17-year-old stars Amritansh Kashyap, Sangam and Shwetme Raj yet again walked home with the CBSE Heritage India Quiz 2011 winner’s trophy on Monday.
The three Patna-based DAV school prodigies, who also qualified for the national level finals, however, hope that they are third time lucky.
“We had qualified for the national finals of the CBSE quiz in 2009 and 2010 as well. We just hope that we are up to the scratch this time around and manage to come out on top,” Kashyap told The Telegraph after the quiz, which was held at Dipatoli-based Surendranath Centenary School.
Sangam added that they though they were regular to the quiz, they had to brush up on their knowledge to sail through the “tough yet challenging quiz”. The duo also had a word of praise for their Delhi-based quiz master.
“Quiz master Pranav Kumar Mukherjee was amazing. He helped enrich our knowledge,” Kashyap said, adding that the dates of the finals would be decided by the CBSE officials later and was likely to be held in the first or second week of December.
The duo initially qualified for the first round of the quiz in August this year, by beating competition from schools across the country and sailing through a multiple-choice question round.
Though today’s quiz started out with nine teams, the four schools that made the cut to the final round were hosts Surendranath Centenary School, Bariatu’s DAV Public School, DAV Public School from Hazaribagh and their counterparts from Patna’s Khagaul.
