Jamshedpur students swayed to a different tune on Friday, courtesy Prince Gupta and Faisal Khan.

The two Dance India Dance stars — Prince was one of the five finalists of Season 1 while Faisal bagged the Dance India Dance Little Masters title in Season 2 — were in the city to judge a dance event at Blitz 2012, an inter-school competition, that was organised at Carmel Junior College.

DID’s Season 3 star Croc-Roaz aka Raghav was also one of the judges but could not finally make it because of “ill health”.

However, Raghav’s absence failed to dampen the spirit of the students, who mobbed Prince and Faisal for photographs, determined to make the most of the day.

“Blitz is an annual event and hence, we wanted to organise it in a grand way. This is the first time that we had invited dancing stars from Mumbai for the daylong event. It was amazing to see the boys repeat the acts that they performed on the silver screen on our stage,” said Sister Sylvie, principal of Carmel Junior College.

Blitz 2012, which saw participation from more than 200 students from seven city-based schools, had lined up four events — Rango Tango (treasure hunt), Who’s Line is it Anyway (enactment on a mute video), the dance contest and a ramp walk.

However, the much-awaited performance of the day was a dance sequence put up by Prince, the king of “locking and popping”. Not to be left behind, Faisal matched steps, setting the stage on fire and sending the cheering crowd into a tizzy.

“This is my first visit to the city and the enthusiasm that I saw here about dancing is great. I was honoured to be a part of DID. I want to be a choreographer like Ganesh Hegde,” Prince, a second- year graduation student, later told The Telegraph.

Class VIII student of Mumbai’s Meera Academy Faisal, on the other hand, said his dream was to share the stage with Hrithik Roshan someday.
