Jamshedpur, March 12: Goddess Durga, her mythological forms and incarnations, as portrayed by six danseuses, held the visitors spell-bound during a cultural programme held here this evening.

The artistes, called Dasha Mahabidya, performed a dance-drama, which culminated with a dance sequence and the concept of Dussehra.

Apart from depicting Durga, the programme ? a music festival at the Milanee Hall in Bistupur ? also witnessed folk music, popular songs and dance performances. The event was organised by Nritya Bitan, a city-based organisation in existence since 1978, and the Milanee Club.

?The programme is part of Nritya Bitans?s annual tradition and is organised every year. This year too, there a lot of entertaining programmes lined up for music and dance enthusiasts,? said Niloy Mitter, director of the show.

The evening began with a solo dance performance by dancer Sukanya Roy. Followed by a solo Rabindra Sangeet performance by singer Suhas Basu and a folk music show by Subhroto Biswas, who sang melodious bhatiyali and other Bengali folk songs.

However, the highlight of the evening was definitely the Dasha Mahabidya performance.

?The predominant theme for the show was devotion, so artistes decided to perform on that theme,? said Anjan Roy, another artiste who performed at the show.

The artiste, a participant of the television show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, entertained the audiences with all-time Holi hits.
